Take a ‘staycation’ for your mental health

You’ve probably heard it before: vacations are good for your emotional well-being. They can alleviate stress, increase productivity and creativity, and even improve your physical health. However, finances and other issues make it impossible for some of us to get out of town. Luckily, a “staycation” can offer similar benefits. Here are some tips for the staycation of a lifetime:

Unplug
Make your staycation a device-free zone by vowing to only check your phone during short, pre-set times (or not at all, if you’re really daring!). If it’s possible, don’t answer phone calls from work or log into your e-mail – the key is to feel mentally removed from your duties at work.

Plan
Set aside time to visit a local museum or zoo ... or attend a baseball game you never have time for ... or eat out at a restaurant you’ve always wanted to try. The point is to break up your routine and engage in activities that are stimulating.

Get active
Try taking a trip to a regional tourist attraction or recreational area to go swimming or take a bike ride. Being active and getting outside are components of a vacation that can be taken for granted but are essential to boosting your mood and getting reenergized.

TTI receives CARF accreditation

TTI has once again obtained accreditation for a period of three years from CARF International. This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows TTI’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards.

According to CARF, an organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process. It has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable and of the highest quality.

The latest accreditation is the eighth consecutive Three-Year Accreditation that CARF has awarded to TTI.
